I took this bag to the Swiss Alps. When I travel to Europe I just do carryons, no checked bags. That means I have a pack pack and a small suitcase. This bag was packed in my suitcase so I could use it to carry stuff on a day trip or a hike. It worked perfect for that purpose. Also, I was surprised that it collapsed back into its pocket as easy as it did.Great that you can roll it up but it’s floppy when you try to stand it upEasy to pack into itself and use as a day bag as part of a larger trip. Also a-ok for use as an airline carry on for under a seat. Has an outside thin zippered mesh pocket (same one it folds into), a top smaller zippered sunglasses pocket that works well, and then a large main pouch with a small partition inside. The only weird and absurdly frustrating part is the water bottle pouch on the outside - it doesn’t actually go all the way to the bottom of the bag leaving this weird extra space, and it’s oddly grippy so getting a bottle in with one hand is next to impossible. Overall really like the pack for a quick extra pack to have and use it around town. I could fit two sweatshirts, sunglasses, a days worth of snacks, sunscreen and hand sanitizer on the outside. Has a few straps on the outside to tighten up the pack too. I’m not sure I would count on this being my everyday pack for months on end and while the straps and chest straps are fine they don’t look like they would hold up under daily city use. Bottom line - day pack, Packable, it’s not a goruck bag but that’s a-ok.Almost $80 for a day pack screams buy me if you want the very best and it is great in many areas. I was attracted to this because it compacted down into its own pocket, has 4 outside compression straps, loops to attach items outside the bag, a hydration inner sleeve for a 2 L insert and a chest strap to keep the bag in place. There are not many, if any other bags, that have all these features. On the minor annoyance side I found that it was very difficult to get the bag out of the stowage front pouch the first time I used it and once out was very difficult to get it back in, but it is doable. The big let down was the hydration storage pouch which is oddly shaped and in know way able to hold a 2 L bag. I was able to fit a 1.5 liter bag in it, but a 1 liter would be a better fit after taking into account filling the bag. If the there is a particular hydration bag that Mystery Ranch recommends I do not know but of the three hydration bags I have 2L and under none really fit. It’s very light and versatile.Looking over the pack upon delivery, it is likely the most durable and comfortable packable travel pack that folds into its pocket. Having said that, other reviewers are right: it is a mystery how one manages to refit the pack into the too-small pocket; the water bottle holder is so tight on a half liter nalgene it difficult to get in; strap tenders ($8 sold separately) should be included, as it is a strappy mess without them. The pack is lightweight and fully self-packable which makes it ideal for travel. Plus, for a small and lightweight pack, it is well constructed and carries very well. The shoulder straps aren't like a full travel backpack but are remarkably comfortable for a day's photo-walk or city tour. My only complaint is that the water bottle pocket is horrible! It's impossible to slip a Contigo bottle in with one hand and a struggle to get it in with two hands. If not for that, it's a five-star bag. It's light and works well for EDC. The one negative I would mention is while it can fit a Nalgene bottle in the side pocket, it requires an impractical amount of effort to put it in there. This is because of a design flaw with the pocket. It keeps folding into itself because the band is not secure and the backpack is too soft.Great compact lightweight little pack to throw in with other luggage when traveling light!Too expensive for a collapsible daysack.
